Data collected by Fishing Social Network (FSN) is not publicly available.
Registered user can only see basic information about other users. As data provider, user controls sharing of his data with other users by connecting with them.
FSN is dedicated to prevent data breaches by implementing modern security methods. If data breach occurs, FSN will take necessary actions to immediately stop the breach, notify affected users, identify the cause of the breach, and report the breach.
While creating free account on FSN, over Register form, by checking required option "I agree to Privacy policy.", user confirms that he is compliant with this Privacy policy.

FSN will never reveal, nor sell, personal data to third-parties. In case of any illegal activities by user, or other third-party, FSN will cooperate with law and government offices.
This data is collected over Register and Account settings form.
- First name (Required, Encrypted): Communication with user. Only alphabetic characters. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Last name (Required, Encrypted): Communication with user. Only alphabetic characters. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Email (Required, Encrypted): Sign in credential, and communication with user. Only valid email address. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Password (Required, Encrypted): Sign in credential. Minimum 8 characters long. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Birth date (Optional, Encrypted): Age verification, 18 years old and over. Empty is default date. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Country (Optional): Account regional settings. Empty is default country. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Timezone (Optional): Account interface timezone. Empty is default timezone. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Language (Optional): Account interface language. English is default language. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Email notifications (Optional): Receive email notifications. Checked by default, as agreed communication channel. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Push notifications (Optional): Receive push notifications. Not checked by default. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
New user is requested to confirm Account registration.
Sign in credentials are used for authentication. FSN will never ask for credentials, in any other cases.
User is responsible to keep his credentials safe. When password is forgotten, reset can be requested over Forgot your password? form.
At any time, user can request deletion of his Account and related data, under Account settings page, then Delete account page. There is a 15 days period before deletion occurs, in case of deletion revoke by user.
Account deactivation is available under Account settings page, then Deactivate account page. During deactivation period, no account data is visible to other users.
This data is collected over Profile settings form.
- Profile type (Required): Type of account profile. Select value from a list, Fisherman is default type. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Profile name (Required): Display name of the account. Only alphabetic characters and digits. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Short name (Required): Short name of the account. Only alphabetic characters and digits, lower case, no whitespace. Generic is default value. Can be shared in the form of preview profile link.
- About me (Optional): Short introduction text. Empty is default value. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Profile picture (Optional): Display picture of the account. FSN profile image is default picture. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
Profile is used to anonymize real identity of the user, and is visible by all users (connected and not).
User decides whether he wants to reveal his identity to other users. For example, by setting his real name as profile name.
As basic information, mutual connections (Colleagues) list is shared with, visible to, other users over Profile preview or Mutual colleagues page.
User deletion of his Profile data is performed under Account deletion request.
Direct messaging, over Chat form, between two connected users is considered private.
Chat messages older than 30 days are auto deleted. Account deletion request will also delete all user Chat messages.
In case of violation or abuse, user can submit report on post or other user.
Report is considered private, and is collected over Report form.
- Reason (Required): Reason for submit. Select value from a list. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
- Description (Required): Report description. Alphabetic, digits, and other characters. Not shared with, not visible to, other users.
Information is evaluated, and report is accepted or rejected.
Resolution of accepted report may lead to block, deactivation, or permanent deletion of post or user account. In case of any illegal activities by user, or other third-party, FSN will cooperate with law and government offices.
Report data is kept as an evidence to violation or abuse.
Currently user cannot delete once submitted report. Account deletion request will delete all user Reports, submitted and received.
Data provided by the user, but isn't directly associable with the person, is considered non-personal. Off course, unless user isn't revealed his identity by setting his real name as profile name.
This data is collected over Add catch form.
- Title (Required): Catch title. Alphabetic, digits, and other characters. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Description (Required): Catch description. Alphabetic, digits, and other characters. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Specie (Optional): Catch fish species. Empty is default specie. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Combo (Optional): Catch tackle combo. Empty is default combo. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- C&R (Optional): Catch and release. Not checked by default. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Length (Optional): Catch length. Zero is default length. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Unit of length (Optional): Length measure unit. Empty is default unit. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Weight (Optional): Catch weight. Zero is default weight. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Unit of weight (Optional): Weight measure unit. Empty is default unit. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Choose attachment (Required): Picture or YouTube URL of catch. Maximum 4MB picture, only valid YouTube URLs. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Want to add fishing spot? (Optional): Location of Fishing spot. Geolocation is supported, not checked by default. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Current weather conditions (Optional): Weather conditions for Fishing spot. Checked by default, if Fishing spot is checked. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
Catch is one of the posts (Smacks) category, listed on Home (Fishing Smacks) and Profile preview page.
By adding picture or URL of YouTube video, user agrees that he has permissions to share picture or video.
Fishing spot is geographical location presented on embedded Google Map. FSN collects only longitude and latitude positions, and this information is temporary shared with Google Maps API for presentation on embedded Google Map.
When geolocation is enabled on device, approximate or precise location is auto pinned on the map. When geolocation is not enabled on device, user can manually move the pin on map. Connected users see only approximate location of Fishing spot, without pin on embedded Google Map.
Based on longitude and latitude positions of Fishing spot, user can choose to add Current weather conditions for that location. In that case, longitude and latitude is temporary shared with OpenWeatherMap API to get real-time weather conditions.
Fish recognition is a technique that can be applied to determine fish specie from picture while adding new catch. Also, there is a specific page called Fish recognition where user can temporary apply this technique to determine fish specie from picture or live camera preview. While using Fish recognition, no picture or live camera material is transferred, the process is done on users device only.
At any time, user can delete each of his Catches by clicking on Delete link. Account deletion request will also delete all user Catches.

- Handmade (Optional): Tackle handmade. Not checked by default. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Brand (Optional): Tackle brand. Empty is default brand. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Length (Optional): Tackle length. Zero is default length. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Unit of length (Optional): Length measure unit. Empty is default unit. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Weight (Optional): Tackle weight. Zero is default weight. Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Unit of weight (Optional): Weight measure unit. Empty is default unit. Shared with, visible to, connected users.

Tackle is one of the posts (Smacks) category, listed on Home (Fishing Smacks) and Profile preview page.
By adding picture or URL of YouTube video, user agrees that he has permissions to share picture or video.
User can combine Tackle into Combos, by providing Combo title and adding Tackle items.
At any time, user can delete each of his Tackle or Combo by clicking on Delete link. Account deletion request will also delete all user Tackle and Combos.
This data is collected over Comment and Comment reply form.
- Message (Required): Comment/Reply message. Alphabetic, digits, and other characters. Shared with, visible to, post owner connected users.
Comments and Replies are written opinions or reactions of connected users on posts (Fishing Smacks). User is responsible to avoid any bad language in his Comments and Replies.
At any time, user can delete each of his Comments and Replies by clicking on Delete link.
Post owner is able to delete all Comments and Replies, by clicking on each Delete link. Deletion of post (Fishing Smack - Catch or Tackle), will delete all of its Comments and Replies.
Account deletion request will also delete all user post Comments and Replies.
Connected users can challenge posts (Fishing Smacks) by clicking on, Truth or Not for Catches, Good or Bad for Tackle, and Useful or Less for News.
Green and red colored bars, in percentages, of total Fishing Challenges, is visible to connected users for each post (Fishing Smack).
Currently user cannot revoke ones given challenge, but can change its value. When post (Fishing Smack) is deleted by owner, all of its challenges are deleted too.
Account deletion request will also delete all Fishing Challenges for users posts (Fishing Smacks).
Online - Hooked, or Offline - Fishing, user session status is show to connected users. For this purpose, FSN temporary logs users last session id and session start timestamp.
When geolocation is enabled on device, user can temporary give permission to collect approximate or precise location, longitude and latitude positions, for Fishing spot.
No other device data is collected by FSN.
No third-party tracking, analytical, recommendation, advertisement API is used.
Based on collected data, FSN temporary calculates and displays:
- Total number of Catches. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Total number of Species. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Total number of Tackle. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Total number of Colleagues. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Total number of Mutual colleagues. Shared with, visible to, other users as basic information.
- Percentage value of Fishing Challenges. Shared with, visible to, post owner connected users.
- Status of user session (Online - Hooked, or Offline - Fishing). Shared with, visible to, connected users.
- Fish recognition. Visible only to current user, and can be applied while adding new catch.
User can temporary give permission to share his geolocation, longitude and latitude positions, with third-party APIs.
- Google Maps API for presentation of Fishing spot on embedded Google Map.
- OpenWeatherMap API to get real-time weather conditions for given Fishing spot.
Cookies are text files with small pieces of data that are used to identify user computer over a computer network. Specific cookies known as HTTP cookies are used to identify specific users and improve their web browsing experience.
Data stored in a cookie is created by the server upon connection. This data is labeled with an ID unique to user and his computer.
When the cookie is exchanged between user computer and the network server, the server reads the ID and knows what information to specifically serve to user.
FSN uses only necessary cookies for user web browsing experience.
By browsing FSN website and/or mobile application, user agrees to use of cookies.
Used to establish a user session and to pass state data via a temporary cookie, which is commonly referred to as a session cookie. As the PHPSESSID cookie has no timed expiry, it disappears when the client is closed.
Used to detect and prevent brute force attacks on the website, it disappears when the client is closed.
